They probably are over-used but in my book that's still preferable to underusing them.

As for the killing spree straw man, I am sure you know as well as I do why it's not even remotely relevant to this discussion.

MrHappy, glad EFT helped your wife. There is not a lot of research in comparison with CBT, but there are a lot of testimonials, my self included. Best part is, it's a permanent solution. You literally learn to forgive yourself forever. It's fast, but painful at the same time. Bringing up those emotions is a pretty hardcore experience. Once the emotions are released, it gets better and better each time.

CBT works, of course, but it also takes a lot of patience with feedback loops. If someone is not patient, EFT is a quick and permanent fix, and CBT can clean up the little bits and pieces. In fact, I believe they should be used together.

Do you know of any good websites or books that teach how to use the emotional freedom technique?

I think it is relevant to some extent and I totally get what you mean though. I guess what I would watch out for with SSRIs (and other potent medicines) is that it can prevent you from being "fully aware" of yourself. To me the SSRIs are not the solution. It's pure fantasy. And eventually one would hope you find another means to be at peace with yourself. It's easy to get caught up in the web of manufacturing emotions you desire. And all the while getting a false sense of what "normal" should be.

If anything, if you want desire to feel like a million bucks.. don't settle for SSRIs and try some MDMA instead. I think it should be legal to prescribe to terminally ill patients and for certain therapy sessions. I am sorta kidding folks..

Now my question is - what do i di afterwards? I doubt my anxiety will be gone, shoudl i take some supplement?

If you really want to get off them all, I'd suggest starting CBT now (unlike EFT, CBT actually has strong scientific support).

Since I cannot go to a therapist for the time being, but have some cbt books, can I start it myself?
And Mr Happy - can I take the supplements you listed while still being on zoloft?

Can I also supplement with taurine? I have a batch and heard that it has anti-anxiety properties while making a person focused and motivated. Been taking it for a few days, no adverse effects, but I'm not sure if I should continue. Thoughts?

Taurine is great for lots of reasons, liver health also being a major one. I take it, no problem.

While I see where you are coming from (though I never dared to try whatever crap is being peddled as MDMA on the streets) it should be made very clear that MDMA on an SSRI will have SERIOUS (up to deadly) consequences due to Serotonin Toxicity. Avoid at all costs.

I'm afraid to try anything like MDMA, I effed up my brain as it is, I think.

But to be absolutely truthful, the desire to feel great is still there in me and its what hooked me on zolpidem. When I first took it, after a half tablet I felt more optimistic, relaxed and not so friggin afraid all the time. Now I just need it NOT to feel extreme anxiety and the euphoria is minimal if at all. I wonder if there is anything safe that I could take that would make me feel optimistic, more corageous and not so down all the time? Like motivated to do tings, see stuff in brighter colors and not just notice tehe ugliness and negative. I had a tendency to that even befoe I started on SSrIs, so I think it's in my gnetic makeup. How an I fix that once i'm done tapering off benzos and zolpidem?
I'm afraid even if the withdrawal ends, me going back to my depressive self is gonna make me hooked on sth again. Is there a supplement that can make me more positive? All the relaxation techniques and optimism books just worked in a minimal way, I need more... I know I could achieve so much if I just felt more positive, this low mood iis making me miss opportunities and waste my days worrying. Help :(

I guess in the end it will come down to experimenting with another anti depressant. Properly working they can do much of what you seem to be looking for but they do have their share of issues (my current stack gives me a somewhat pleasant dont give a shit attitude but it sadly also means I have zero motivation). While I am not too convinced that therapy is all that helpful, for severe cases CBT looks like it is worth a shot. Sadly I lack the time to properly get into that, so I dont know whether therapist assisted CBT would help...

Kava is not sustainable due to its liver issues...

Knowing what I know now I'd use high dose piracetam as an anxiolytic. It works very well for this. Something in the realm of 2g twice per day along with rhodiola rosea. I used the Rosavin brand and it cured my panic attacks. Meaning after suffering for years with random bouts of panic attacks and anxiety after starting the herb those issues no longer occurred. So before you scoff at the use of an herb for anxiety I suggest you look twice.

As for Kava, that one seems to have quite a bit of contraindications https://secure.wikim...Adverse_effects

For rhodiola, there are different reports. So far I have not dared to mix it with Wellbutrin, myself.

Piracetam I think should be fine but I am far from an expert there.

The problems with Kava were due to its preparation but I think most supplemets are ok now. I don´t remember well which was the problem.

I'd reccomend any of these,
Memantine
Lithium
Bacopa
Lion's Main
Magic Mushrooms ;-)
Ganga
Prozac
Naridal
Taurine

Those are very potent Rx/Sups that may provide real relief, please research everything before you take anything.

I'm mostly interested in a supplement that in addition to reducing anxiety might cause optimistic /euphoric feelings

Naridal / Phenelzine is a non-selective MAOI. I would stay away from that stuff, very dangerous if not handled properly (and yes, that includes watcihng your diet really closely in this case) - if at all, take it under close supervision of a qualified MD

I wonder if there is anything safe that I could take that would make me feel optimistic, more corageous and not so down all the time? Like motivated to do tings, see stuff in brighter colors and not just notice tehe ugliness and negative.

Be sure to tell me if you come across this, I want it :D

Well as I said before I would strongly encourage piracetam! 2g twice per day. It shouldn't interfere with an SSRI and you just don't get much in the way of side effects. If anything it will help. So please do some research.

No offense but I've used both with postive effects at the same time, I believe the SSRI that I was on at the time was Zoloft. I've found nothing but postive effects.

Can you provide me with studies that indicate that Psilocybin with SSRI's don't work?

He was probably mistakenly referring to MDMA instead of psilocybin
