Is it safe to break a multivitamin in half and take one half at breakfast and the other part at dinner? I can imagine that is more effective (and easier to absorb) to take a half twice a day with different types of food. My breakfast usually consists of (whole wheat) bread (phytic acid), which is not very helpful for the absorption of minerals.

What do you think?

Thank you!

Many essential nutrients are absorbed much better with fat, so if you are only eating bread with your multivitamin, then you are only absorbing a fraction of the vitamins from your multi. Many people here take their multivitamin with a meal that has some fat. Paleo dieters of course eat animal fat, like butter and bacon. Some people will take olive oil with their multi, or include it in their meal for the specific purpose of absorbing more nutrients.

As far a dividing up your pill. I do it all the time, but I take Vimmortal, so I don't have to cut a multi in half or anything like that. I just take a couple in the morning and a couple in the afternoon because a full dose is 6 pills/caps.

Thanks Mind for your fast reply!

I eat my bread with peanut butter (59% fat) or cheese (approx. 20%), so my breakfast contains some fat.
Vimmortal seems ideal, but is it also safe to cut one whole multi in half?

I am not aware of any risks of cutting a multivitamin in half.

Thanks Mind!

I guess it is fine to break it in half then.
