A conference to be held this coming December in Brussels: "Your presence can be key to convince the European Commission to count more on biology of ageing, preventive and regenerative medicine to extend healthy lives in the not so distant future. Heales (Healthy Life Extension Society) is a European non-governmental association promoting and advocating scientific research into longevity and biogerontology. We are a group of biologists, biochemists, medical doctors and diverse other professions throughout Europe. Having followed the evolution of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing we have reached the conclusion that biology of ageing needs to be highlighted more clearly as an important solution. Innovations based on biology of ageing can contribute to improve healthy life in a very significant way and we want to address this message to the European Union through this conference. In this conference, we will let scientists explain how their research contributes or can contribute to extend the healthy lifespan of European citizens; we will put scientists, entrepreneurs, medical doctors and other key actors together to build the business of long term health, towards a living Europe rather than a dying Europe. We hope that people who work for the European Union, politically active persons and others will be interested and will further help biology of aging reach concrete implementations."

Eurosymposium on Healthy Ageing 2012

A new age of long term health and longevity

Brussels , December 12-14th 2012

Dear everyone,

you may know Heales as a "spin-off" of the Imminst/LongeCity and SENS forums. The association has grown and is strongly active, with monthly meetings in Brussels over the last 3 years, and many concrete results, in particular in setting the meme in Europe. Now, we are trying to reach higher society levels such as the European Commission to concretely boost the cause: come and join us at EHA 2012! It is an attempt to make the fight against aging recognised as a concrete top priority by governments.

Registrations are opened at http://eha2010.org with registrations discounts until later October.
Now is the time for massive applied biogerontology.

GOAL: HELPING NATIONS FIGHT AGEING
The name of the meeting was chosen to clarify that our cause and our objectives ARE EXACTLY the ones Europe has chosen. The European Union has indeed defined a gigantic project to increase healthy life expectancy: the "European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing". European Commissioners have to find where to invest... We know! We follow the science and we know the scientists, the entrepreneurs => EHA2012 ("Eurosymposium on Healthy Ageing, A new age for long term health and longevity") will show where Europe should invest to reach the goal: applied biogerontology, truly preventive an long-term-health medicine, regenerative medecine, tissue engineering, etc.. We need to show how concrete that is. Who is at work. What is needed. In particular, this is a call for start-ups from all over the world working in this field to come and discuss with European Commisssioners.

This is a unique opportunity to reach the needed critical mass to make much longer healthy lives a top priority at all levels. Innovations against aging are happening now and are concrete. As a solution to the burden of ageing demographics, governments need to push those innovations now. It is great for humanity, it great for economics, there is no other way around: This Is The Way To Go.

WHO's WHO: BUILDING THE FUTURE TOGETHER
The conference is held by HEALES (the Healthy Life Extension Society, https://heales.org/) in association with the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Aging in the Netherlands . The SENS Foundation is one of the sponsors. During the meeting you will of course meet people you know from LongeCity, SENS, GRG (Gerontology Research Group), other but also key researchers, key start-ups and key policy makers. Ageing is being defeated and we count on you to show how concrete it is. This is where to invest for the future! This how to make an innovative healthy Europe, instead of a slowly dying Europe! This is how to reverse the crisis into a flourishing economy. The way for a healthy future is long-term-health and longevity. The key for a healthy future is to act now.

CONCLUSION
We hope to see you in large numbers in December!

The Healthy Life Extension Society (Heales) in cooperation with the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing (University of Leyden) is organizing the Eurosymposium on Healthy Ageing (EHA) in Brussels on December 12th-14th 2012. The conference will take place in the Lippens auditorium of the Royal Library (http://www.kbr.be/).

Background about the conference:

Heales (Healthy Life Extension Society, http://heales.org/) is a European non-governmental association promoting and advocating scientific research into longevity and biogerontology. We are a group of biologists, biochemists, medical doctors and several other professions throughout Europe.

Having followed the evolution of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing we have reached the conclusion that the biology of ageing needs to be highlighted more clearly as an important solution to the problem of the increase in age-related degenerative diseases. Innovations based on biology of ageing can contribute to improve healthy life in a very significant way and we want to convey this message to the European Union through this conference. In the conference, we will let scientists explain how their research contributes or can contribute to the extension of the healthy lifespan of European citizens; we will put scientists, entrepreneurs, medical doctors and other key actors together to build the business of long term health, towards a living Europe rather than a dying Europe. We hope that politicians and people who work for the European Union will be interested and will further help research into the biology of ageing reach concrete implementations.

Following the success of EHA2012, EHA is back: Welcome to EHA2014!!!

In 2014, EHA2014 will be on October 1st, the Longevity Day, in order to open the Longevity Month (October): a month is which longevity events will happen all over the world. As in 2012, the goal is that EHA will be a meeting place for scientists and helpers from all over the world who believe that biogerontology is THE thing to be pushed forward.

It will more specifically last 3 days, the first 2 days being more scientific and the 3rd days allowing each other to know well and to build projects collectively.
For now, the program is being built, and we are launching a call for abstracts:

Deadline for submission: 1st of August 2014
Submission: by mailing to eha@heales.org or online on www.eha2014.org
Type of abstracts:
- Short oral presentation (15 minutes)
- Poster

Abstract guidelines:
1. Authors must be listed with their affiliations. The author presenting the lecture or poster must be indicated by an asterisk (*) behind his or her name.
2. Maximum length is 1,500 characters.
3. The submitting author must verify that all co-authors have read and approved the submission of the abstract.
4. The author(s) must disclose any financial interests related to the presented work in their submission form.
