Guys,

I'm 6 weeks out from discontinuing eszopiclone (lunesta).  I've felt surprisingly crappy given the long taper I did, but I took this drug for a long time (always in prescribed dosing (3mg) or less).

I have some sulbutiamine on hand that I've taken one 200mg dose at lunch on occasion and I've noticed that I have felt fairly significantly better on the days that I've taken it.

I really wasn't expecting this effect, I took it sporadically with the idea that it might be of some long term benefit in getting over the withdrawal, but I've now run this experiment enough times where I think something positive may be going on here.

What do you guys think of this?  As far as I know, sulbutiamine is not gabagenic, but it apparently does potentiate glutamatergic activity and also inhibits the release of dopamine, but it is unclear to me how that would be beneficial to someone in z/benzo withdrawal (in fact to the contrary wrt glutamate).

Since it does appear useful, can anyone think of reason this is a *bad* idea?
