Lipase & amylase too high

jdklfj iapjop's Photo jdklfj iapjop 23 Sep 2015

I got my blood work done this week, everything is perfect except for my lipase & amylase
lipase: 107 U/L (should be between 28 and 100)
amylase: 68 U/L (should be between 13 and 60)

I don't think it is an acute pancreatitis bc my liver and kidneys are perfect healthy
and CRP (inflammation marker) is 0,4mg/l (should be lower than 5,0)

My docter advised me to do a new blood test in 3 months (instead of 6 months)

What could be the cause of this?

Bart,

do you follow a very low carb diet?.

I had the same issue as you two years ago, but with much higher amylase and even lower CRP. The thing was so bizarre to my Drs. that I could

manage to get extensive  non common blood tests, and TACs for image of organs. At the end of the day

nothing was found, all was normal, and the Drs. didn't have a clue of the reason.

However, later lypase and amylase came to normal ranges doing or taking nothing in special. That was when I introduced more carbs in my diet in the form

 of more veggies.

I have the suspect that very low carb induces the body to increase amylase to grab any carb that passes through, but this is just an idea, I don't know.

Best.
