In summation, I don't think the average guy is rebellious or cutting edge. I think he likes to convince himself in his own head that he is.

What about if a woman knocks back a sexual advance from a man because she has a suspicion that he might be gay?
Conversely sometimes a man doesn't make an advance on a woman because he thinks she looks a little masculine and might be a lesbian.

That does not make sense. If a guy makes a sexual advance on a woman, it's probably because he is attracted to her in which case he would not be gay (exclusively homosexual, maybe bisexual).
If a man is turned off by a woman's "masculine" appearance then he's not attracted to her, at least physically.
In other words, both of these situations won't happen.

Dumbest thing i've heard in a while. This is why women don't frequent this site as much. Because there are a bunch of guys here who think they know everything about them, including the subtlties of their thinking processes and what they are attracted to.
I'll say it from first hand experience that plenty of women in todays world are attracted to feminine, or 'metro-sexual' guys. It's part of social evolution. You can't get any more condescending than that.

Stop speaking as if where you are is a microcosmic example of everywhere. There are plenty of places in which the dominant attractant of females is metrosexuality. You guys complain that most immortalists are men, well stop acting like you know every nook and cranny of a womans psyche and maybe they would appear here a little more. My girlfriend is attracted to me because I am not afraid of the stupid asses who think long hair=homosexuality. She is a model beauty that very few of these typical moron wannabe alpha male types could get within 20 feet of her without making her sick.I don't think that's true. Women nowadays, particularly here in Australia are attracted to the stereotypical beer guzzling brick layer man who congregates with his mates at the pub watching the footy while talking about the latest 'chick' they nailed.

Short hair = pathetic, scared little homophobes, living disappointing lives filled with tragedy and death! Long hair = rock stars covered in pure win and awesome, their success assured, the world of the future belongs to them! Yeah!

I don't think that's ENTIRELY true. In Australia SOME women are attracted to the stereotypical beer guzzling brick layer man who congregates with his mates at the pub watching the footy while talking about the latest 'chick' they nailed. I think metrosexuals or men in general who put health and 'hygeine' as a priority have been unfortunately affected by the stigma of being gay.
Sometimes I wonder why so many people are against gays??? What they do behind closed doors is their business. In fact sad to say I have never encountered a gay couple which is a shame because I'm always stuck on the bus or at uni watching some unattractive straight couple going at it with tongues. The guy is usually shaven, making him look like some juvenile delinquent in mourning. I won't even talk about the girl.....
I was talking to my dad one afternoon (he is 63) and he said that men actually used to carry in their pockets a MIRROR AND COMB. He said there was nothing wrong with that!!! Well dad have I got news for you. If you were a guy rearraging your golden locks nowadays you would probably be shot by the homophobic police. Men in the 50s had such great hair. It was so thick and shiny, a vision of health and virility. Greased hair looked so sophisticated and dangerous back then!
Pretty much every guy has some kind of buzz cut or military (you'd almost think people were being conscripted) cut. I say bring on the hair. Yes, I suppose you do have to wash it out once in a while, and there are so many products on the market that you can pretty much do anything with your hair...even if it is wild. Men these days are so insecure about sexuality. It defies the old stereotype that men should be strong, ruthless, unrelenting and determined. The feminist movement did so much for women, but men are still living in the dark ages.
My mother always said that you should live life by the bible so...
Longer hair = strength!!! Just look at good ole Samson from the bible. You don't need balls of steel...you just need hair...and a bit of faith in your hair stylist.

This topic is subjective and I'm just giving my side of the coin. I'm sorry if I offended you. Perhaps I'll change my post with the word 'some'.
Long hair isn't homosexual in anyway. The problem is what you do it. Ironing or straightening is what makes long hair appear to some people as gay.
So what if most immortalists are men? Im sure there are plenty of women who seek advice by reading forum posts.

Well what's the argument for why we shouldn't make an effort to stylize our hair (which requires it to be a little longer)? Women have been doing it for ages, in fact, according to history, so did men before all this modern-day patriarchal horse crap started dominating peoples thinking about the typical male stereotypes. It is ridiculous that we live in a society where women can be in touch with their masculine sides without being considered lesbians but men who are in touch with their feminine sides are immediately held up for questioning. What the fuck is wrong with the western world? And then there are some guys who overestimate the role hairstyle plays... we should probably start a new thread to discuss them though. Let's stay on topic.

Exactly.Where did you guys get the ridiculous idea that long hair is associated with homosexuality, and that straightness is associated with masculinity? All the homosexuals I know well are pretty manly and have very short hair.

This is the problem yet again. The notion that doing a god damn thing aside from simply washing your hair should give rise to the perception of homosexuality. And yea, you're right 'some' people think that. Because 'some' people are dumb asses. I am not trying to appeal to such people. Nor am I interested in their appraisal of my sexual orientation. And again, it is almost always men who conclude such things. Seldom do women presume me gay, in fact I think men might because they feel somewhat attracted to other men and are afraid to admit it. So they fall back on their subconscious homophobic/repressed homosexual tendencies.

long hair, cool guy... totally awesome !!!!!!!!!!
Posted 13 May 2009 - 02:27 AM
No. Because it is based on first hand experience not a sweeping stereotypical statement. And I said that my generations females are 'increasingly' attracted to longer hair on guys, not all of them. Just many. I don't know how ld you are but perhaps if you are older and you think generationally you might not understand. This is why women don't frequent this site as much. Because there are a bunch of guys here who think they know everything about them, including the subtlties of their thinking processes and what they are attracted to.
Wait.....isn't that the basis of your original post in this thread?
