I finally got around to trying CBD @ 30mg/d for a couple weeks.  My main take away was that in the absence of stress, I just felt a couple points less motivated to be productive or be active, and maybe a little more reserved or sluggish. It seems maybe useful as something to have in the back of the fridge to spot dose as necessary, like a tylenol/advil situation but targeted at stress.

I would be cautious to use this prophalactically long-term just for general brain health.

In my experience and that of several friends, it just.... doesn't do much. At least noticeably

I tried a CBD product that was supposed to help with sleep. It didn't seem to work and I had a mild headache the next day, so I didn't try it again. Maybe it would have worked if I tried it for more than one night (once is a bad test).

Nope. I have several friends that have tried it specifically for sleep. I think it maybe improves my sleep quality a bit but that's it. I don't get where all the hype is coming from

Which one were you using? I found a full spectrum extract to be much more effective than just CBD isolate. I'm not aware of any safety issues with CBD it's been in the US market for years Europe at least a decade.

Dose and form definitely play a factor. I tried the caps with no effect but the oil works pretty strongly especially in higher doses like 25-100 mg.

I was using the one from CBDistillery @ 30mg/serving, upwards of 3x servings/d. It definitely has an effect. A bit like L-theanine or L-glycine, or maybe lemon balm, but more in your face (albeit for several times the price.)  I was hoping it would be something a bit more enjoyable or motivating and social, but it moved me maybe just 1 point closer to being lazy and hungry.

I've used theirs before and it's pretty good but yeah $$$. Lazarus naturals is a far better price and has higher levels of phytocannbinoids so I take theirs.

Looks like their 1 gram tinc is 33.2 mg of CBD and 1.2 mg of THC per ml dropper is going for $60.

https://www.thecbdis...e-fullspectrum/

lazarus naturals makes a 750 mg tinc with over 50 mg of CBD and over 2 mg per ml going for $32.

I find 25-50 mg a decent dose for moderate effects and 100-200 mg or more are quite strong moreso less pain, I find myself more focused, and I don't feel at all stressed kind of like phenibut but more in control I guess.

My guess is it's not just the CBD but other components that you have to take enough of to feel it working.

After reading the new study on mice where low doses restored cognitive function I would see this as a factor.

Does cbd oil need to be taken with fat or are the gel caps ok to take on an empty stomach?

As long as there is oil in the gels you are fine.

I take 100mg of Isolate (75mg) at night which seems to be a very unusually high dose. I tend towards dissassociation and some of the components in CBD extract (not isolate) seem to make things worse especially as doses escalate (and large doses seemed to be necessary for sleep).

CBD isolate doesn't knock me out but helps me stay asleep longer and better than many other things.

Has anyone had any sleep success with things that also work on the cannabanoid system? I tried agmatine sulfate and that seemed to help the first day and make things significantly worse after. Perhaps I took too much of that, took it too late at night or needed more time off in between doses. I also plan on taking oleamide. I'd love to hear about other peoples experiments as the cannabanoid system seems important to my sleep.

I’ve been loving CBD for sleep. I take 100-150mg per night though and occasionally 25-50mg extra at dinner time. But a solid dose of full spectrum does wonders for my insomnia and middle of the night wakings. I don’t get any of the negatives anyone talks about. I’ve used a variety of brands and full spectrum and isolates. I prefer a full spectrum, but I may have some drug tests coming up so I’ve switched to isolates and while it isn’t quite as effective, it’s still working and I’m sleeping great.

i had high hopes for cbd, and i remember it was overpriced but still i order it. i tried both softgel and 2 kinds of sublingual, one called heated and the other called unheated or something like that. no help for ocd or depression or sleep. i gave it  to someone as a topical for more than 10 times and it did not help them at all. waste of money. the only thing left is to try it with those stupid smoking devices, but i doubt i would do that.

I have a friend who is extremely knowledgeable about the topic, or at least he lectures me about it at length. He swears by CBD for his chronic pain relief, but he has to vape it and taking the oil orally doesn't have the same effect at all.

Also he finds significant differences between various CBD products, which he attributes to them having different amounts and ratios of terpenes - components of marijuana which are bioactive in their own right.

May I ask, how can you guys afford such high doses of 100mg and above?
I mean you lust be millionaires, right?
I only use 5mg and even this is expensive enough in my opinion

What brand are you using?

It’s all about life choices; what we choose to spend our money on. I don’t wear really expensive clothes, I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I don’t have cable tv, etc. I budget appropriately for what I want.

It is one of the few things that work for me and any money I save by not buying it would be spent on other supplements or Drs.

These savings would probably be in vain as I have literally tried 100 other things with little impact (the only other thing with a big impact is CBN which is even more costly).

I buy it in bulk and I think it costs between $1-3/day even at my high doses.

CBD has come down in price as it got popular and hopefully will continue to do so as it is still quite pricey.

If it works for you try to buy a gram of it and split it if necessary. It will last at least a year and you will get a much better price per milligram.

cool, can you name me the supplier?
I cant imagine it being this cheap.

I bought 5% CBD oil - 300ml - which equals 1500mg CBD...it cost me about 60€ which should be about 66Dollars!!!

So with 100mg a day it would last me 15 days, that would be 4,4 Dollars a day!!!
And all the other suppliers werent cheaper!

I bought it from CBDistillery though I believe there were a couple of other almost as good options (bluebird possibly being one of them).

I bought 100g at 10$/g. Look for places that sell in bulk and make sure you go to their bulk department. In general the price will be much different than smaller orders.

They tend to have price points (X $ for 10g, Y for 100) so ask about different quantities

I am not sure how great the discount is but unless you buy wholesale their price is more than 3x higher than the price I quoted.

Their non wholesale's largest size is 6k and although you can get pretty good prices for ~5g you'll pay less per gram for higher volumes.

I have found isolates to be cheaper and with less side effects than more full spectrum extracts. That being said, if you don't have side effects from higher doses of CBD you might want to try and see if you can get the discount from Lazarus's wholesale price.

What side effects? I’ve found the isolates to be much less effective than full spectrum. Still effective, yes, but if I didn’t have a potential drug test coming up, I sure wouldn’t be using an isolate. LN discount is 60% off. Can’t beat that.

I get better sleep when I take CBD in general. However, if I take enough non isolated CBD I get disassociative symptoms.

This is an individual thing as I get it from other supplements as well and I imagine most people won't have this problem.

On the other hand, isolates are usually cheaper especially when they are bought in bulk (even taking into account 60% off) and I have gotten the same if better sleep results from them.

CBD extracts can contain other cannabinoids. For example, CBG makes my sleep worse when I try it on its own.

Unless the CBD extract removes all CBG it could make my sleep worse or at least less good (as seems to be the case).

I imagine some people will benefit from CBG or other cannabinoids/terpenes so this will need to be an experiment.

To that effect, I think people should start off with the isolate to minimize variables and then try the extract and compare their results with both and choose which works better.

I see what your saying, but for the majority of us, spending a grand or more at one shot probably isn’t feasible.

I also disagree. If one isn’t subject to drug testing, I’d suggest starting with full spectrum as for most people, it’s most effective and side effect free.

I’d like to find a quality broad spectrum (everything but the THC), but haven’t found a decent one yet.

Man do i have an experience with CBD, endoca's decarboxylated 2000mg applicator, took this for about 6 months a few times/week purely for recreational purposes, between 0.5-1g of paste each time which equals between 100-200mg of CBD, went through quite a few applicators.... the effects were intense, extreme euphoria and pleasure, body felt amazing, orgasms so stop i swear i passed out a few times.

get this, pain became pleasure, discovered this by accident one day bumping into a table.

some of the side effects you would expect from cannabis but amped up, music was a religious exp food was too.

Had to stop using it though due to pretty horrifying side effects that only started happening after a certain incident, took a usual high dose of 200mg CBD and the snack of choice that night was pizza, a first, after consuming a average to small amount nausea and shortness of breath ensued, head pressure and racing heartbeat, anxiety without end, this sensation built up until i felt what i can only describe as a SNAP in my head, basically i thought i was dying or maybe having a stroke, felt extremely weak and needed to lay down, talking felt exhausting and and i was having a hard time concentrating on whats in front of me, a general feeling that something was off remained afterwards, maybe just because the whole thing was so traumatic.

after this event the good feeling became accompanied by a comedown around 2-3h into it, something that didnt happen before, beforehand when it was wearing off it was just a return to the normal, but gradually this changed and a comedown appeared, horrible, scary comedown.

racing thoughts, FEAR up the ass, paranoia, i admit i kept using this for longer then i should have even with this comedown, my job suffered, my memory was shot, emotional stability went out the window and none of this changed after i quit, for the better part of a YEAR,

I quit using this product on January 2018, 2 months after the pizza incident and only now over a year and a half afterwards can i say i feel like theres some improvements, still not back to where i was before.

regarding the pizza incident, could the high CBD dose have been acting as a MAOI and had an interaction with the cheese causing a hapertensive crysis and/or serotonin syndrome?

I've had similar experiences and if you ever learn anything about this please (mechanisms or treatments) please let me know as it still haunts me regularly.

I have depersonalization (and dysautonomia which might be related) and CBD is a minor contributor to it that prevents me from getting fully over it (but helps me sleep so it's a mixed bag).

I've had similar experiences with too much serotonin, blood sugar swings, mineral deficiencies (after using EDTA and depleting sodium among other things) and possibly dehydration.  To me it feels like my brain isn't getting enough oxygen. I also get very cold, go in and out of consciousness, have a racing/weak pulse, lose short term memory, have a hard time moving, feel dehyrdated (very dry mouth), have stomach disturances and see snowy vision

I react poorly to MAOI's but the experience is totally different (I'd expect hard racing heart beats with an MAOI instead of the weak fast pulse I get now) and I've never heard anything about CBD interacting with MAO so I doubt it's caused by this. It could be a blood sugar thing from the pizza, but unless you were fasting prior to eating it I doubt it.

I do have MAO issues so perhaps it is a build up of something besides histamine (which is the usual problem I have from MAOI inhibition) such as dopamine or serotonin.

Though based on https://www.ncbi.nlm.../pubmed/6179486 and Safety and Side Effects of Cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa Constituent it seems like CBD has no effect on MAO.  The latter says "CBD  (0.3-300?g/mg  protein)  was  ineffective  at inhibiting porcine monoamine oxidase activity of brain and liver  mitochondria  after  1  hr  of  incubation  with mitochondrial preparation". The former mentions other cannabinoids that do inhibit MAO so cannabinoids not removed during the extract could be the problem. I have mixed feelings about this as on the one hand I have less issues with purer CBD isolate but on the other hand still have issues with 99.8%+ CBD. I'd think at that concentration the other cannabinoids would have little affect but perhaps they are very strong inhibitors.

To me it feels like it could be serotonin syndrome as the symptoms are very similar to times where I think I've taken too much serotonin raising substances. However, if this was the case I'd expect the 5htp I take to make it worse and feverfew would make it better (I didn't trial feverfewmuch but it didn't seem to help). I think I've taken my BP at time of crisis and it was a little high but nothing crazy (130/x instead of 100/70) that being said my conscious dips in and out when this happens so it is possible I am remembering wrong (I will try again).

Your symptoms feel very familiar to me, "To me it feels like my brain isn't getting enough oxygen/get very cold/hard time moving" feels very much like what i felt during those comedowns when the effects turned for the worst, i attributed it to low blood pressure at the time but unfortunately didnt have a way to measure it so its all conjecture.

if this is still happening when you take CBD i advise you to stop, your sleep may suffer for a few months but theres no other way to fix this as far as i know, it took 6 months of regular exercise a few times per week and eating at a surplus before i stopped feeling like im having low blood sugar 24/7, i say low blood sugar because it was impossible for me to skip a meal, if i took just a little too long between meals i'd get anxiety and wouldnt be able to sleep, now it seems im much closer to my old baseline where i can skip a meal if i choose to without much difficulty.

i measure my progress with a low dose of either retalin/vyvanse, i dont take these regularly, only once a month or so, when i first tried these shortly after quitting CBD when i was still all fucked up it was like being snapped back to how i use to feel before CBD, positive, interested, unhindered by body aches and pains, but with a comedown that made me want to kill myself.

last time i took vyvanse was a month ago and the difference in cognition and concentration is really not all that different now, it still produces an effect but the transition from one state to the other doesn't feel all that big, and the comedown is barely noticeable, i dont think tolerance is a factor in a once/month low dose regimen.

i wish you all the best man.
