Does anyone have negative experiences with taking nootropics they would like to share?

If so, why do you think they upset your body or cognitive function? Was it your diet, dosage, or wrong diagnosis?

--I am new to this forum and nootropics--

Suspected lowered libido from noopept, and insomnia from some of the more stimulating noots if I took them too shortly before bedtime.

I discontinued noopept and learned to time the rest. No lasting negatives.

Some nootropics come along with side-effects, you can see them from Google. Here are the ones I got:

- suspected sleepiness from melatonin
- tingling skin, foggy mind, anxiety, very mild social bluntness, nausea from modafinil
- headache + dehydration from armodafinil or piracetam or choline (I didn't actually get dehydrated, but I drank tons of water and still had mildly colored urine)
- lowered blood pressure or something like that from nicotine - I start feeling numb and it's hard to concentrate, so I discount the gum

But this is just me. Other people can get more or less severe reactions from the things I those. But even for modafinil, those are nothing compared to the benefits and I'll continue taking everything I listed. Except for nicotine gum, because I take it for increased cognition, and after taking this in account, it actually decreases my cognition, so overall it's bad.

Sulbutiamine seems to cause itching/rash which is keeping me awake.
