Is intermittent fasting less beneficial in vegans?

The primary benefit of IF is reduced IGF1 levels

But a vegan diet is lower in protein (and especially methionine), which also reduces IGF1 levels.

Of course, the benefits could be additive, but usually effects are more subadditive than additive.

It seems to me that IF only reduces IGF levels in proportion to any calorie restriction it produces. This is fairly well demonstrated here. Any reduction in IGF during fasting would likely rebound during refeeding, proportional to the caloric intake. Since a vegan diet, or any diet, will reduce IGF proportional to the reduction in (complete) protein and calories, I don't think there'd be any additional lowering of IGF on standard vs. IF vegan diets, provided they were equicaloric.

It would be interesting to test the difference between an ad lib whole foods vegan (or very close) diet and an omnivorous CRON diet. I have a feeling the vegan diet would get a lot of people most of the way there without the strictness of the CRON diet. Both have reduced protein, and most people generally eat less on a whole foods vegan diet enough that they lose significant body weight, at least to the lower range of normal.
