Lactobacillus reuteri (ATCC PTA 6475) - Mo...

This certain strain of reuteri (for what ever reason) is incredibly potent. The study I read used the term "robust sex-dependent health"
Boost testosterone levels and testicular size (robust male reproductive health)
http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC3879365/
Increases oxytocin levels (social grooming, wound healing)
http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC3813596/
"Shiny hair" " "Glow of health" aka anti-aging
http://www.plosone.o...al.pone.0053867
As one might notice this strain is incredibly potent and with the right prebiotic mix you might be able to permanently colonize it. Imagine something like that permanently being in your gut? I looked everywhere for this strain, but can not seem to find it! I was hoping other people on here would show interest and together be able to possibly find how to acquire this certain strain..
Here is some info on it from reddit - it is much more in depth

It's also found in the digestive tracts of almost every animal tested, already. They're just not extremely competitive, and get out-competed by other lactobacilli very easilly.
Do you know if humans have this specific strain? Then hypothetically all we have to do is take a prebiotic mix to maximize it.
Yeah, I'd be interested in how to maximize this strain.
If we already have this strain in our body all we have to do is take prebiotics. I take resistant starch, inulin, and p. husk at the same time, so probably something like this would maximize it; although I know certain strains are fed best with different prebiotics.

This company says it plans on releasing a product with that strain: http://www.biogaia.com/future-launches
Its been under future launches for a few months now. You might ask them when it is going to be available.

But which strain of Reuteri is in there? And does it really matter when there are so many other strains in that probiotic that might outcompete it? I'm sure it's a great probiotic, but it's not really the same thing as ATCC PTA 6475, and therefore wouldn't have really the same effects.

Been taking this one for about 2 months now (1/2 hour before my first meal) http://www.amazon.co...eywords=Reuteri
and at night taking Soil Based Organisms (SBO). Its should be noted that if you read the whole study they confirm that L. Reuteri is simply working through anti inflammatory pathways so my thinking is if you already have low levels of inflammation it may have no observable effect.
Also is this not a source as well? http://www.atcc.org/...l/PTA-6475.aspx
Lastly, breast milk can be purchased on Craigslist cheaper than soda, as many women are classified as "overproducers."

Im bumping this, excited about this! Anymore on this??
As someone mentioned above it seems the effects are due to its anti-inflammatory properties. To be more specific an increase in il-10 and/or decrease in il-17. The only thing that I know that can have a similiar effect would be intermittent fasting (I forgot whether it increases il-10 or decreases il-17, but it was very significant). As far as getting our hands in 6475 it seems unlikely at the moment; unless someone is willing to buy it off http://www.atcc.org/...l/PTA-6475.aspx or try breast milk. I have emailed the owners of this strain (bioaga) several times and they won't mention the release date of Gastrus (which is the product that has this strain)....

damn, thats too bad. let's get some hype, some movement on this. Altough i have yet to take a supplement that really does any noticable good for me, i still keep looking out for stuff that does. This may be very promising, isn't it so that gut optimization has not been pursued much yet in the medical world?

I wonder how much they give you here http://www.atcc.org/...l/PTA-6475.aspx
Because this is the actual stuff they were putting in the mouse water if I recall correctly.

You can't order from the ATCC without BioSafety Level 1 or above certification.

Seems like more than you should need for something that you're planning on eating...

I contacted biogaia about gastrus and it's only available in China/Korea right now. They have no immediate plans to release in the US. Oddly enough, I have some non-acidic reflux issues which are made MUCH worse by the other biogaia product (L. Reuteri DSM 17938). The Gastrus product includes both DSM 17938 and the ATCC 6475 strains.
Reuteri is certainly interesting as far as probiotics go.

What does it cost? I see no prices let alone shipping cost. Any time they won't tell you what something costs and you have to ask for a price, its usually in the stratosphere.

I'm pretty sure there are no distributors in North America....yet. Should be a few more months.

Couldn't see a price or what the count of that strain was ?
Really, did you search for the product in question?
The price is listed as €15.75 (around $17 or £11) for 18 tablets. Obviously shipping will vary depending on your location.
With regards to strain count, BioGaia suggest '200 Billion CFU' however, the product is a combination of Reteuri (ATCC PTA 6475) and Reteuri 17938.

Unfortunately, it's just 200 million CFU of both strains, not billion

Thanks for sharing that it got to you in what looks like the U.S.. If you do not mind saying, how much did it cost with shipping?
At 200 Million CFU, I would be inclined to try and make a batch of probiotic yogurt with a couple. Increase the dose. I have had excellent results with 24 hour incubation of several single and multi-strain probiotics. I currently make 3 gallons of milk worth per week of Bifidobacteria Infantis NLS (Natren) and Lactobacillus Plantarum 299V which I strain to make 2 types of a Greek style probiotic food. I eat some of each several times per day.
