What's the consensus on Meldonium?
Seems like it could have hidden longevity benifits?

Very interesting. It does sound like it could prevent certain aspects of heart disease and adds to things which we generally understand about Alcar here.
How might it affect weightloss? Is this also an anti-obesity drug?

I'd love to try meldonium. Seems quite interesting. I wonder if it has any rebound when you quit taking it though.

Some info from a website promoting Meldonium.
------------------------------------------
Back in 1975, the creator of the drug, professor Kalvins, was studying all body chemicals that can be deplenished during endurance trainings. He found that one particular chemical - Gamma Butyrobetaine - is being deplenished under physical workloads. He changed this molecule by replacing one atom of Silicon with that of Nitrogen so that the new molecule would not decompose and could act as a transmitter from CNS to peripheral cells.
What? Gamma butyrobetaine doesn't have any silicon. It's formula is C7H15NO2.

Not to sidetrack the thread but Sharapova was taking a lot more than Meldonium!
Professional tennis is an absolute grind and I'd be shocked if they weren't among the first athletes into blood doping, epo, andgrogens, growth factors, and stimulants.
No, you don't want to get BIG, but it's ALL about recovery.

I took Meldonium twice daily for 6 weeks which is the recommended duration for treatment.
What I can discern from my experience given that I was taking it as part of a considerable stack is the following:
- tightness in the chest disappeared and I felt more "light" overall
- better exercise endurance
- better energy overall both mentally and physically
There seems to be a threshold of how much the body can tolerate Meldonium. Around the end of the 6 weeks I was feeling somewhat drained whenever I took a dose so I decided to interrupt.
The discontinuation was without issues and all the previous benefits remained after discontinuation.
I'd say the benefits are not extreme but a good add on, at least for me, since I always felt tired.
Of note, is that I stopped taking ALCAR when on Meldonium (nulls the effects) and reinstated when I stopped.

Thanks for inviting me to this thread Ark
I noticed these words on the wikipedia page for this drug:
A December 2015 study in the journal Drug Testing and Analysis argued that meldonium "demonstrates an increase in endurance performance of athletes, improved rehabilitation after exercise, protection against stress, and enhanced activations of central nervous system (CNS) functions".[71][additional citation needed] It is opposing to steroids in the sense that instead of making the athlete emotionally unstable and readily irritable, it keeps them in an elevated state of mind and keeps their emotions in a happier state. When referring to central nervous system enhancements, it better activates the neurons in the CNS. This improves the messaging system throughout the body and, therefore, can decrease (improve) reaction time for an athlete.
source: https://en.m.wikiped.../wiki/Meldonium
That makes it sound like it's having nootropic effects...
akin to ritalin or modafinil or maybe aniracetam.
I wonder if it would treat neuropathy issues too.
I remember that the Russian tennis champion,
Maria Sharapova was banned for using this drug.
Absolutely unfair, IMHO, they didnt announce that this
was a banned substance, they just somehow retrospectively
inflicted it on her. ... but any, i digress.
The detail about the Sharapova incident that seems most relevant
here is what she said, during an interview, about why she took this
drug. She said it helped her concentrate; that she could work harder
for longer without having her performance degrade due to fatigue.
She also said she'd been taking the drug regularly for 10 years !!!
So presumably no problematic side effects with regular use.
I think this interview was published in rt.com
(I don't have a link, but you could search the rt.com website)
So this idea that melonium/melondrate might work like a side effect
free nootropic is supported by the Sharapova case.
Personally, i'd like to try it.
I'd like perform some challenging tasks whilst taking it, see if my
performance was improved by it.
(1) distance running
(2) some difficult mental tasks, coding... learning german... etc.
which, or where, are the best, less expensive, sources ?
Posted 22 February 2017 - 02:42 AM
So far, the cheapest source i have found is this one:
http://rupharma.com/mildronate/
But this is clearly quite expensive stuff.
26 euros for 40 X 250mg (total 10grams) == 2.60 euros per gram
55 euros for 60 X 500mg (total 30grams) == 1.83 euros per gram.
There simply _must_ be somewhere selling mildronate cheaper than this.
Somewhere in china ?
Somewhere in India ?
Somewhere in Korea, or Malaysia, or Thailand ?
Does anyone have a better source than the http://rupharma.com website ?
Thanks to anyone that responds

This stuff does sound interesting. I'm thinking it could be a great treatment for obesity if during exercise you receive a more powerful neurochemical reward and it prevents injuries, even if minor, which prevent people with obesity from continuing to work out. Is anyone using it as a weightloss therapeutic?

Thanks Ark, the shops you link to, price their products in dollars not euros.
So i will convert my euro prices to dollars so a straight comparison can be made.
Note: 1.05 euros to $1.00 (so, almost parity)
40 X 250mg (total 10grams) == 2.60 euros per gram / 1.05 = $2.47
60 X 500mg (total 30grams) == 1.83 euros per gram / 1.05 = $1.74
$19.90 - 40 X 250mg (total 10grams) == $1.99 per gram
$39.90 - 60 X 500mg (total 30grams) == $1.33 per gram
5 packets bulk purchases:
$79.90 - 200 X 250mg (total 50grams) == $1.60 per gram
$179.90 - 300 X 500mg (total 150grams) == $1.20 per gram
https://blockthefear.../buy-meldonium/
(these people are amazingly expensive)
$57 - 20 X 250 (total 5 grams) $11.4 per gram
$90 - 20 X 500 (total 10 grams) $9.00 per gram
On the basis of these 3 suppliers, the cheapest appears
to be https://cosmicnootropic.com -- But i will seek out
prices from Asia, perhaps Alibaba.com ... Research effort
always seems to pay off ... in one way or another.
I have composed an email to Grindex; the Latvian company
that makes Mildronate. Perhaps they will be willing to supply
me here in Zurich. Switzerland is considered wealthy country;
possibly/probably Grindex may inflate the price.
Thanks Ark for your sources suggestions

Here's another viable vendor:
https://www.awakebra...mildronate.html
$70 - 60 X 500mg (30 grams) == $2.33 per gram
$140 - 180 X 500mg (90 grams) == $1.55 per gram
These prices, however, aren't competitive.
The favourite vendor at this stage, is still:

Posted 22 February 2017 - 03:23 PM
Cosmicnootropic does bulk order price breaks for groups.
My (personal) game plan, ... is to limit my investment until i know
more about meldonium/mildronate.
If I buy in now... and then later discover that it gives me a headache
or a rash... or that i'm irritable when i take it ... etc.
Then i'm not going to be pleased with myself for buying a huge volume.
So buying 5 boxes, or a 1/2 kilo of mildronate powder.... is risky... it's gambling.
What i need to know is....
Does it work for me ?
Does it improve my cognitive performance ?
(concentration and/or learning)
Does it improve my physical performance
(sporting performance and general stamina)
And do i like it ?
So initially, i'm going to invest in the small 40 X 250mg package.
$19.90 - 40 X 250mg (total 10grams) == $1.99 per gram
Later i can decide to invest more money and get more product.
I noticed there are suppliers on alibaba.com selling kilo quantities of the powder.
I will order today.
It would be cool if we could keep this thread alive and use it to exchange details
on our experiences of taking this drug.
be happy
Addendum:
Unfortunately, cosmicnootropic.com has a minimum order value of $60
So.... i'm not buying from these people.

This website looks interesting...
They are offering a 'SAMPLE' offer of 20 X 500mg Meldonium/Mildronate for 20 euros (approx $20)
I sent an email to this address: [Email removed at owners request]
I got a reply back from a man named:
[Email removed at owners request]
(replying from a different email address to the one i wrote to)
In his email he provides a link to, what looks like, a payment processor at this address:
[Link removed at the request of retailer]
The company is Russian and is offering free shipping (tracked) to Europe.
Free 'tracked' shipping across Europe ? Is this a good deal or a scam ?
My question is: Is there a way that i can check to see if this website is legitimate or not ?
If anyone knows of a website that names and shames scam websites... please let me know.
be happy
------------- Addendum -------
I've just put loads of dummy data into the name, address, billing address etc fields
so i could get to the payment options on the next screen.
Two points:
(1) I don't want to put my credit card details into this website
(the dark net is full of criminals selling _valid_ credit card details
-- where do these criminals get the credit card information from, i wonder ?)
(2) They offer payment by paypal.
(which means i can always get my money back, if the goods are fake or don't arrive)
I will proceed with this vendor.
I will update this thread with my experiences with this vendor and with mildronate.

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about...
Edited by Meldonium, 22 February 2017 - 07:17 PM.
Posted 23 February 2017 - 03:25 AM
I have messaged Evgeny Lysov (Meldonium) asking about the possibility of sending the
SAMPLE package (which consists of 20 X 500mg mildronate capsules for 19.99 euros)
by a faster form of shipping than his default shipping.
His default shipping takes between 7 and 21 business days....
...which is between 9 and 29 calendar days... so i could be waiting for a month.
And i'd really rather receive this package in the next few days (to a week)
I'm waiting for his answer... which i presume will come tomorrow.
Here are his prices per purchase quantity:
Each box of mildronate consists of 60 X 500mg capsules (30 grams)
1 box € 39,99 (39,99/box) 30 grams = 1.33 euros per gram
2 boxes: € 77,98 (38,99/box) 60 grams = 1.30 euros per gram
3 boxes: € 110,97 (36,99/box) 90 grams = 1.23 euros per gram
4 boxes: € 139,96 (34,99/box) 120 grams = 1.17 euros per gram
So my intention, is to purchase some pills from this vendor, using PayPal.
And then report to this thread
(a) what this vendor was like
(b) my experiences of mildronate were like
[c] my research findings via the published papers on mildronate
Research effort always yields benefits.
be happy

This seems like a very interesting substance, because it seems like it might accomplish several good things at once, but I'm just a pleb so I'm not really sure if it could be considered both healthy (potentially longevity promoting) and like a mild performance enhancer.
I am planning on taking 250mg 2 times per day for some period of time. Already took some today and yesterday, the immediate effects were mainly 1. increased blood-flow to extremities 2. some stimulating quality but not at all as cerebral and not with much potential for headaches as racetams or methylphenidate. I am hoping to get to the gym soon.
Posted 14 September 2018 - 12:27 AM
As I look at this again, I'm wondering if mildronate would be at all beneficial for skin conditions where fine blood vessels are damaged or in patients with other disorders in this area. I'm surprised that there's no research on it... at least not that googled up immediately.

extrapharmacy.ru charges about 0.3 USD for a 250mg capsule of the STADA brand meldonium. That's what I got, seems very legitimate as usual. As for other sources I have used in the somewhat recent past rupharma.com for unrelated purchases and they stock it as well AFAIK but won't ship to most European countries, then there's their branch-off site mospharma.com but they are probably extremely expensive.
I'll write down a short diary about my meldonium usage and post it eventually.
Posted 06 April 2020 - 11:03 PM
Quick update before I go to bed: I have been cycling Meldonium at 500mg/day (using the Grindex made from same source as above post) for a few months at a time, during the past 2 years or so.
I can for sure say that for me it has a very obvious good effect on mental endurance (but it doesn't make me feel good, rather I don't get tired as much --- but it has a very slight similarity to say methylphenidate or actual stimulants in so far as I suspect it sometimes makes me annoyed (then again I'm prone to over-stimulation by the most benign compounds)). Even tho I'm not Maria Sharapova (who claimed similar effects/reasons for taking it, I believe). I've had some bad circumstances relating to poor health of my parents for example, and changing life circumstances requiring a lot of planning that I'm not used to.
I can't speak as much or as highly of the physical endurance aspect, because I've not been able to consistently attend a rigorous weight lifting routine or similar.
but during some periods of heavy exercise (mainly weight lifting, but even things like very long walks with grocery bags on very frequent basis) it does seem to help quite a bit, and I suspect the physical endurance effect might be just as substantial as the mental.
The blood flow increase to the peripheral parts of the body is consistent (jives well with my prescription stimulant (very low dose) that decreases p. blood flow), albeit I find fulvic acid (pure 6% wujinsan/pure&fulvic) to be more effective in that particular effect.
What I'm most interested in right now is relating to TMAO inhibition, which meldonium might achieve. see this thread https://www.longecit...tmao-inhibitor/
Posted 14 December 2020 - 07:21 PM
Currently using at about 500mg per day for the last two weeks. Really enjoying the effects which for me, mostly seem to center on better oxygenation as my lungs have opened up a lot. I've been suffering with mild breathing issues for a long time and this was exacerbated by a lengthy round of walking pneumonia last year. Within an hour of taking the first dose of Meldonium, my lungs began to feel more free and open, for lack of a better description. A deep breath feels refreshing instead of a chore and as a result, some of my mild physical and mental anxiety has lessened greatly.
I haven't had an opportunity to test the endurance aspect out in the gym with the pandemic peaking as it is, but I sense it would be a great asset for sports, working out, and steep hikes at altitude. I live at 7000', for reference.
I have definitely noticed more energy throughout the day and now seldom take a nap whereas before it was practically a requirement. Mood is improved, cognition notsomuch "improved" but better able to stay focused longer without fatigue. On the whole, my body feels lighter and slightly more energetic but mostly I am super grateful for the improved lung function. Sexual function also has gotten a small boost, mainly in the form of cardio endurance but also overall blood flow.
Here's an interesting overview on Meldonium/Mildronate. I haven't delved too deep on this paper and it seems some of the claims are quite speculative but align with what I've experienced so far.
