I'm concerned about potential estrogenic activity from taking these.

This study mentions an antihistamine causing gyno

https://www.ncbi.nlm...les/PMC4521169/

also this article mentions estrogen like activity

http://www.peaktesto...s_Estrogen.aspx

I found other forum posts mentioning cetirizine being associated with estrogen. How significant is this and would it apply to loratadine (claratin) also?

I also heard these can be harmful for the liver when taken for a while, is there truth to this and is it significant?

Should these antihistamines be avoided medium - long term, or cycled perhaps? If so what would you say is a good time period to take & stop for?

Finally do you have a preference between Loratadine and Cetirizine for allergies?

Thanks

Found some stuff on ceterizine (zyrtec). I've stopped taking it now because I'm pretty sure it's worsening anxiety and I don't find it very effective for allergic rhinitis either. Plus these don't look good and there's many reports of withdrawal symptoms too (here's one anecdotal report, also mentioning liver problems too https://www.reddit.c..._when_it_has/). Not sure if loratadine is similar.

Relevant thread. I wonder how nasal steroid sprays like Flonase are in terms of side effects and effects on hormones, today is my first day.

I've been taking cetirizine for more than a decade due to my allergies. I haven't noticed any estrogenic or liver issues.
