treonsverdery, when you first showed the source, I looked into ordering to the U.S. from the Japanese source, and I could not figure it out. My failing, but fact for me.

normalizing, that looks like an excellent yogurt. A 24 hour incubation is the way to go. A lot of probiotics, and likely less lactose left. Thanks, I will look into it if I ever run out of my home made version.

heisok i dont wanna advertise but i tried it myself and it was sour as yogurt should be. im from a country specializing in yogurt for centuries and in the past years there is not a good yogurt even in there. BUT, i did try this one in US and it was sour and good quality from what i can tell

After reading several studies on LKM512 it is clear that it is no novel strain, but a widely available strain from Chr. Hansen.

LKM512 is BB-12. No need to buy it from Japan.

There are no patents protecting LKM512, since the strain is not the property of the dairy company marketing it. Other companies heavily protect their strains with multiple patents. None of that is going on with LKM512. LKM512 is rebranded BB-12 (DSM 15954).

Can I just buy some BB-12 yogurt culture and put it in a capsule?  Does that work or do I need to grow and consume yogurt?

Nice find that LKM512 is BB-12.

Two years ago, I could not find single strain BB-12 products in the U.S. I used Solgar Acidophilus Plus to make Yogurt as it contains; L. acidophilus, LA-5® 250 million viable microorganisms; B. lactis, BB-12® 250 million viable microorganisms. I used 10 capsules. The Yogurt was successful, but it gave me an Histamine like flushing reaction of the face.

I came up with the combination when I read about a gentleman in England who was able to control his Social Phobia by eating a concentration of the 2 strains by making a ferment using heated milk and Lamberts Acidophilis Extra 10. He had tried a commercial Yogurt, but felt that the effects were not as good.

Here is a link which might take you to his Scribd article, with some interesting references at the end:

I don't see why not, but it doesn't sound convenient. Taking a supplement with BB-12 is a lot easier. The benefit of making a yogurt with the culture is that it is more economical.

sdxl, the issue to me is finding any supplement which only contains BB-12 if that is what Daniel Cooper intends. As far as Yogurt starters, one runs into the same issue.

Do you have a source of single BB-12?

Single strain supplements with BB-12 I know of are:

Optibac Bifidobacteria & Fibre UK, 5 billion CFU/packet

Yovis Regola Italy, 1 billion CFU/packet

Both are powders and contain FOS.

Jamieson Probiotic Baby Canada, 1 billion CFU/6 drops

This is a suspension in oil.

There are many more products available in different markets. I believe these are the main dosage forms you can find BB-12 in as single strain.
